Grim Tales: The Bride

So, Grim Tales, the bride is a Hidden Object Game (HOG) sold in Bigfish (or obtained by pirate-means, arrr!). I played normal gameplay, not Collector´s Edition.

Overall score

SYNOPSIS

After your sister vanishes on her wedding day, no one has any idea what happened to her so it's up to you to find the truth! Some believe she drowned, but her body was never found. Return to the abandoned family mansion and search for clues. Explore your sister's memories to solve the mystery of her disappearance in this HOG.

REVIEW

Fun Factor:
This was an entertaining HOG. Not my favourite, but it is not boring. I has at least 3 hours of continous gameplay so you really get to burn your dosis of hidden objects.Still, it was a typical HOG game and at least I prefer more action.

Visual/Sound Quality.
Most HOG have awesome quality, and this is definitley one of them. Beautiful!! I noteiced a couple of things however like when the snow effect was unequal throughout the screen (left side was without snow meanwhile right side had almost a snowstorm!). Music was unique. You didn't have music throughout the game. It was like in waves, sometimes very low in the backgound and sometimes high. Sound effects were good and coordinated to the image.

Level of challenge.

I played it on advanced mode, so no shining stars or blinking spots were around, and hints took more time to recharge.. I liked this because, not only it was on a easy to normal level and you get yourself more deeply into the story.

In general, the part of hidden objects had clear, easy to fiind objects. Sometimes they were hard to find or they were tiny, but the picture was always clear.
In the puzzles, difficulty varied a lot going from easy to hard. In the few that were hard, what made them hard were ambiguous, unclear instructions, so you had to click around until you found out the trick.
The clues are sometimes hard to connect because you travel between big worlds, so sometimes you don't remember too well what goes where, but you get the hang of it.

Storyline.

The story line was a typical HOG game with an abandoned mansion, but  it was entertaining! They made it different from the rest, making some twists and playing different worlds and it was a love story...which are rare in HOG, being always the background story of someone lost or a untold secret to uncover. We also get to see the house like a crime scene with police tapes, which is not normal, but I liked the change. The characters were also described and we get to know them, and of course, rescue them. Although the story was interesting and catchy, the ending was a complete failure.

Spoiler alert:
We rescue the girl and she ends up just smililng. And the game finishes. There is no closure whatsoever and we never get to know what happens to them afterwards of why the dad/devil did it.
